Do I Have Depression? Answers to Your Top Depression Questions

Depression is much more common that one might expect: 17% of people will experience a major depressive episode at least once in their lifetime.

At KMA, we know that depression is truly de-habilitating: it can become chronic or recurrent and may also lead to impairments in the ability to attend to our responsibilities of life - family, children, our careers, and our friends. Depression can also have major consequences if left untreated - for individuals of all genders, ages, and backgrounds. Do you think you might be depressed?

Signs of depression are:

  • losing interest in activities you would usually love to do
  • losing interest in pleasure
  • feeling guilty
  • low self-esteem
  • lack of sleep
  • disturbed appetite
  • non-energetic- poor concentration

When you begin your sessions with your counsellor here at KMA or at another location, or therapist about your depression, there are a few questions that your counsellor will ask you:

  • When did the low-mood or depressive feelings begin?
  • What are your symptoms in suffering from depressive feelings?
  • How do you cope when you are feeling low?
  • What life situations are contributing to the severity of low-feelings in your life?5. What are your goals through counselling?

At KMA Therapy we provide treatment for depression. Research shows that recovery from depression is much more likely with the help of a counsellor. Psychologists and psychotherapists are there to teach you the essential tools you need to live your life better. These help you gain a positive energy, regain your interests and pleasure, and reduce your guilt and self-consciousness. It's also a priority for you to learn to sleep peacefully and your appetite will grow again. Last of all you would get your concentration, focus back and you would be a lot more energetic!
