What happens during Psychotherapy at KMA Therapy?
Psychotherapy at KMA is likely covered under your health insurance plan as a psychological service.
There are three simple steps to psychotherapy at KMA:
1. Book a 50-minute introductory session
Your first step will be a 50-minute introductory session with one of our caring intake counsellors.
The fee for this session is $190 and is typically covered by your workplace benefits package.
We’ll ask you questions to explore:
- What brings you to therapy
- The best treatment approach for you
- Your ideal treatment plan and duration of therapy
Your introductory session is also an opportunity for you to ask the therapist any questions about the therapy process.
2. Get matched with your ideal psychotherapist
After your introductory session, we’ll match you with the psychotherapist in our practice who best fits your needs and personality.
You’ll know your therapist is the right fit if you’re excited about therapy sessions, your sessions feel productive, and you feel free to be your authentic self.
Your psychotherapist will guide you through the treatment plan, goals, and objectives set in your initial consultation.
3. Feel better, finish and evaluate
After completing your recommended therapy plan, you’ll attend a closing consultation appointment to reflect on what your experience was like.
Everyone takes a different amount of time to work through issues, so if you’re still struggling, we may recommend continued psychotherapy sessions to keep you on the right track.
If you’ve made significant improvements with the issues you’re facing and feel confident in your ability to move forward, your weekly therapy sessions will end here.
We will provide you with additional resources to support you moving forward, and you are welcome to return for a check-in session at any time.
